Gangtok: Sikkim BJP president D.R. Thapa visited the Roray Chu Steel Bridge site at Bhusuk Khola on June 5 to inspect the status of the long-delayed infrastructure project. Accompanied by party officials, Thapa reviewed progress after local residents expressed ongoing frustration regarding the lack of connectivity caused by the unfinished bridge.

Official records show the project was originally tendered in 2017 but has faced significant setbacks over the last seven years. During his visit, Thapa met with the project supervisor and construction team to identify the specific challenges behind the inactivity. The site team assured the BJP leader that all remaining work should conclude within the next month.

Thapa acknowledged the update but cautioned that speed cannot come at the expense of infrastructure integrity. He stated that the project must be completed within the stipulated timeframe without compromising on quality, safety and durability. Local residents have welcomed the intervention, expressing hope that the bridge will soon open to provide much-needed transportation relief to the region.
