Gangtok: Sikkim has reached a major educational milestone by achieving full literacy status under the ULLAS, or Understanding of Lifelong Learning for All in Society, initiative. Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region Jyotiraditya Scindia praised the accomplishment as a historic development for the state.

Scindia celebrated the news on social media, noting that the achievement aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for a developed North East. The minister previously visited the state for its 51st Statehood Day, where he reaffirmed the central government's commitment to the region's long-term progress.

Beyond literacy, the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region is backing a 360 crore rupee mission to modernize Sikkim's agricultural sector. This project seeks to elevate the state from a local organic producer into a global premium organic economy. The initiative focuses on improving logistics and cold chain infrastructure to support over 66,000 farmer families and strengthen regional producer organizations.
