Senior NSCN-Reformation Leader Kavishe Zhimo Resigns Over Governance Concerns

Kohima: Longtime NSCN/GPRN-Reformation member Kavishe Zhimo has formally split from the organization led by Wangtin Naga and P. Tikhak. Zhimo, a former home kilonser, announced his departure after the group issued a suspension order against him on May 24, 2026. He described the disciplinary action as an arbitrary move that forced him into unnecessary public scrutiny.

As a founding member of the group established in 2015, Zhimo was a key participant in the initial ceasefire agreement with the Indian government. He argues that the organization has abandoned its roots of collective leadership in favor of autocratic rule. According to Zhimo, the group's foundational document, the Yezhabo, has been effectively sidelined by centralized power held by the ato kilonser. He noted that his attempts to discuss these concerns with the leadership were ignored, stating, "The action violated the principles of natural justice and the provisions of the organisation’s Yezhabo."

Beyond structural complaints, Zhimo raised concerns regarding the organization's financial integrity. He alleged a lack of proper auditing, budgeting, and reporting mechanisms, which he claims obscures how resources are managed. He also argued that advisory boards and other officials have been relegated to passive roles, unable to curb these governance issues.

Zhimo emphasized that he remains committed to the broader Naga political cause despite his decision to leave the faction. He called on the remaining leadership to address these transparency gaps and prioritize collective accountability for the benefit of all party workers. He concluded his statement by warning that the leadership bears full responsibility for any future consequences resulting from this dispute.
