Senior Congress leader Rocky A Marwein resigns in Meghalaya

Shillong: Rocky A Marwein, a prominent leader in the Ri-Bhoi district, has stepped down from all official capacities within the Indian National Congress. His departure includes his roles as President of the Ri-Bhoi District Congress Committee and the Umsning Block Congress Committee, as well as his primary membership in the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee.

In a letter to the state party president, Marwein attributed his exit to personal matters. He emphasized that the choice was not driven by any conflict with party policies or leadership. "This decision has been made after careful consideration of personal reasons," he wrote in his formal correspondence.

The resignation occurs as political organizations across Meghalaya ramp up their activities in preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Marwein has asked the state leadership to accept his resignation effective immediately. Regarding his potential move to another party, he remains undecided and plans to seek guidance from his followers. "I have not taken any decision yet. I will first discuss the matter with my supporters before deciding my next course of action," he stated.
