Itanagar: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Tai Tagak submitted his nomination papers on Monday for the lone Rajya Sabha seat representing Arunachal Pradesh. The filing took place at the Legislative Assembly Secretariat in Itanagar before Returning Officer Tadar Meena ahead of the election scheduled for June 18.

Tagak was accompanied by several prominent party figures, including Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, Home Minister Mama Natung, and State BJP President Kaling Moyong. Following the submission, Chief Minister Khandu praised the candidate’s history with the organization. He stated, "Shri Tai Tagak Ji brings vast experience, deep understanding of our State, and an unwavering commitment to the people of Arunachal Pradesh."

The election is being held because the term of the current member, Nabam Rebia, expires on June 23. Given the BJP's commanding presence in the 60-member state assembly, Tagak is widely expected to secure the position. Party leadership highlighted his years of service in strengthening the organization across the state.
