Senapati Residents Protest Manipur Chief Minister Over Naga Killings

Imphal: Protesters in Senapati district lined the streets with black flags on Wednesday to confront Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh. The demonstration broke out as the Chief Minister arrived to review local infrastructure projects and government programs. Locals gathered to voice their anger over the deaths of six Naga civilians. These victims vanished after an alleged abduction by Kuki groups in Kangpokpi district on May 13, 2026.

Searchers recovered the remains in a mutilated, dismembered state on June 10. The sight of the Chief Minister’s convoy triggered a wave of placards along the roadside. Families and community members want real answers. They demand an "impartial and time-bound investigation" to identify the killers and hold them accountable under the law.

The protest serves as a direct challenge to the state government. Residents are calling for strict enforcement of justice for the families left behind. This visit was intended to focus on state development, but the tragedy in Leilon Vaiphei village dominated the agenda.
