Security forces seize weapons cache and nab three insurgents in Manipur

Imphal: Security forces uncovered a significant cache of arms and ammunition in Manipur's Kangpokpi district on July 18. Troops located the stash in the Zero Point area near Kotlen. The haul included one .22 rifle with a magazine, 15 single-barrel rifles, three 9 mm pistols, one .22 pistol, and five improvised mortars. Personnel also seized 107 live rounds of varied calibres, 205 fired cartridge cases, four Motorola batteries, and one PEK.

Officers continue to probe the site to maintain order in the region. Security agencies stated that "further investigation into the recovery is underway."

Police also booked three insurgent cadres during separate missions on July 17 and 18. On July 17, forces nabbed Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup member Yangabam Boicha Meitei, 29, near the Indo-Myanmar border at Border Pillar 67 in Chandel district. They recovered a country-made .22 pistol and a Motorola set from him. The same day, police arrested Kangleipak Communist Party extortionist Khundongbam Ithoi Singh, 32, at his home in Phaknung Awang Leikai under the Lamlai Police Station.

The crackdown continued July 18 in Imphal East district. Authorities arrested United Revolutionary Front member Md. Leihimuddin, 37, at Khurai Heikrumakhong Khomidok Bazar. Heingang Police Station maintains jurisdiction over that arrest. Officials are actively investigating all three cases.
