Imphal: Security forces hauled in a massive cache of military hardware during a three-day sweep of Manipur's Kangpokpi hills. The joint operation began on June 20 after intelligence teams tracked armed militants hiding near Leilon Vaiphei and several surrounding villages.

Troops from the Manipur Police, Indian Army, CRPF, and Rapid Action Force led the charge. The units faced immediate danger. Police said, "security personnel came under fire from suspected militants during the operation, triggering an exchange of gunfire."

Forces pushed through the resistance to finish combing operations on June 22. They found two AK-47 assault rifles, one M4 Carbine, two SLRs, an SKS rifle, and a sniper rifle. The stash also included 17 shotguns and 11 single-barrel guns.

The teams grabbed ammunition, radio gear, and other combat supplies. Police officials claim the raid marks a major win in their campaign to break apart militant networks. Investigators are currently scrubbing the site to identify which groups owned the weapons stash.
