Imphal: Security forces conducted successful counter-insurgency operations in Manipur on June 5, resulting in the arrest of two active cadres from the proscribed Revolutionary People's Front/People's Liberation Army. Personnel apprehended the men near the Stone Crusher area in Thoubal district's Waithou Sangomsang region.

Authorities identified the detainees as 32-year-old Sanasam Sanamatum Meitei and 26-year-old Yengkokpam Premchand Singh. During the arrest, officials seized a two-wheeler from the pair. The suspects are currently under investigation as officials work to curb regional insurgent activity.

In a separate action the same day, security forces recovered a significant cache of weaponry and equipment near the Indo-Myanmar border. Located between Border Pillars 72 and 73 in Tengnoupal district, the find included a country-made lathode gun, a 9 mm pistol, and a U.S.-made .22 calibre pistol.

The search team also discovered four radio sets and four remnants of improvised explosive devices. Official sources stated that the recoveries are part of ongoing security measures aimed at "curbing insurgent activities and strengthening surveillance along the sensitive Indo-Myanmar border."
