Imphal: Chief Justice M. Sundar of the High Court of Manipur declared today that justice delayed lacks any justification. He spoke during a capacity building event for defense counsels, panel lawyers, and remand lawyers held at the High Court complex in Mantripukhri. The Manipur State Legal Services Authority organized the one-day session.
Justice Sundar highlighted Article 39A of the Indian Constitution. It forces the state to provide free legal aid to all citizens. Poverty cannot block legal remedies. He told the gathered attorneys to work with total commitment. "Justice delayed cannot be justified," he stated.
The training aims to sharpen professional skills for those representing vulnerable and underprivileged clients. Other officials contributed to the event. Justice A. Guneshwar taught a session on the art of drafting. MASLSA member Ch. Momon detailed the specific responsibilities of defense and remand lawyers. Judges A. Bimol and MASLSA Secretary Alek Muivah also attended the proceedings.
