Security Forces Arrest Nine Insurgents Across Manipur

Imphal: Security forces arrested nine suspected insurgents, including one woman, during counter-insurgency operations throughout Manipur’s Imphal Valley. The 36-hour crackdown resulted in the recovery of various weapons, ammunition, and other incriminating materials. Officials confirmed that several of the detainees were allegedly involved in extortion schemes across the region.

The individuals apprehended are linked to several banned groups, including the Revolutionary People’s Front, People’s Liberation Army, National Revolutionary Front Manipur, United National Liberation Front, Kangleipak Communist Party, and United Revolutionary Front. Among those arrested were Thoudam Roshan Meitei, Ningthoujam Premkumar Singh, Yambem Momocha Singh, Md. Nawaj Khan, Roshan Yumnam, and Khwairakpam Chetan Meitei.

Security personnel also detained Khumukcham Shyamsunder Singh in Singjamei, seizing a 9mm pistol and a magazine during the encounter. In other operations, Laithangbam (O) Sanatombi Devi was apprehended in Langol Game Village, while Moirangthem Naresh Singh was captured at the Ngaikhong Khunou Naka Check Point in Bishnupur with a motorcycle. Officials stated that "investigations are underway" and promised that efforts to dismantle insurgent networks and extortion rackets will continue.
