Guwahati: Union Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia met with regional leaders Sunday to address the flood crisis hammering the Northeast. Heavy rain keeps falling. The minister spoke with the chief ministers of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, and Manipur to gauge the damage and plan rescue operations.

Assam remains the hardest hit with six districts under water. In Arunachal Pradesh, 12 out of 28 districts face flood impacts. Scindia promised the Centre will back state efforts to save lives and fix broken services. He stated, "The Centre would work closely with the states to safeguard lives, strengthen relief operations and restore normalcy at the earliest."

Authorities remain on high alert across the region. Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Tripura are under constant watch as river levels rise and landslides threaten to cut off transport. State and federal agencies are now running joint disaster response teams to stabilize the ground.
