Sarojini Damodaran Foundation Opens Scholarship Applications for Meghalaya Students

Shillong: The Sarojini Damodaran Foundation is currently inviting applications for its 11th Standard Vidyadhan Scholarship, which supports academically gifted students from economically disadvantaged families across Meghalaya. The program aims to alleviate financial burdens while fostering long-term educational growth.

To qualify, students must have completed their SSLC examination in 2026 within the state. Applicants are required to have secured at least 75 percent marks, or an A+ grade in every subject, though the threshold drops to 60 percent for students with disabilities. Additionally, the candidate must come from a household with an annual income of less than Rs 3 lakh.

Successful applicants will receive Rs 10,000 annually during their 11th and 12th grades. For students who maintain a strong academic record, the foundation offers further support during their degree programs, providing annual scholarships between Rs 25,000 and Rs 75,000. Beyond monetary assistance, the initiative includes mentorship, soft skills training, and career counseling.

The foundation, established in 1999 by former Infosys CEO SD Shibulal and Kumari Shibulal, has supported over 78,000 students to date. Regarding their future goals, a foundation statement noted: "The foundation aims to scale its reach to 100,000 scholarships and cover all states in the coming years."
