Sarbananda Sonowal Inspects New Sports Stadium in Dibrugarh

Guwahati: Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal visited the newly constructed stadium at Khanikar in Dibrugarh on Tuesday to review its infrastructure and development status. During his inspection, the Dibrugarh Lok Sabha MP examined the facility’s amenities and discussed strategies for its effective long-term utilization.

Sonowal expressed optimism that the modern venue would act as a catalyst for local athletes, fostering a new era of sports excellence across the district and the broader Upper Assam region. He emphasized that building high-quality sports infrastructure is vital for identifying and training emerging talent.

Several local officials joined the minister during the site visit, including Assam Tourism Development Corporation Chairman Rituparna Baruah and Dibrugarh Deputy Commissioner Bikram Kairi. The project aims to provide youth with improved resources to develop their skills and build a sustainable sports culture.
