Kohima: Two significant books by Rev. Dr. Yanbemo Lotha were officially launched today at the Lotha Baptist Church in Dimapur. The new titles, titled Basic Lotha (Kyong Yi) English Yilanglita (Conversation) and The Naga Returnees: Rebuilding Lives (Post Covid-19 Pandemic), address vital facets of Naga society, focusing on cultural preservation and the human struggle during the pandemic recovery period.
Agriculture Advisor Mhathung Yanthan, who presided over the launch, commended the author for his literary dedication during a challenging global crisis. Yanthan emphasized that as the government integrates local languages into academic curricula, it is essential for writers to collaborate with literature boards to ensure linguistic standardization. He urged the younger generation to prioritize reading over mobile technology to sharpen their intellect and preserve cultural knowledge.
The event also featured insights from Y. Kikheto Sema, Principal Secretary of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. He reflected on the extensive logistics involved in the state’s 2020 Covid management efforts, noting the establishment of 52 quarantine centers. These facilities supported the return of thousands of citizens, beginning with the arrival of a special train from Chennai on May 22, 2020. The documentation of these experiences serves as a historical record of the collective resilience shown by the Naga community during an unprecedented time.
