Shillong: Laban locals grabbed a thief Friday morning. The man tried swiping a spare tyre from a car at Upper Kench’s Trace, Lumshatsngi. Witnesses filmed the crime. Then they stopped him. The group held the suspect until police arrived to haul him away for questioning.
Trouble hit again Friday night. Thieves targeted Barik, located across from the Step By Step School. At least three cars took the brunt of the attack. Miscreants shattered windowpanes on the vehicles. They grabbed valuables from the cabins and vanished into the night. Police are working the case. Authorities describe the situation as an incident where residents "apprehended a suspected thief" before handing him over to the local precinct.
