In a separate incident on August 22, a 14-year-old boy was left unconscious after a savage beating near the Bansara Eye Care Centre. The victim, who lives at the Member Hostel government quarters, suffered severe bleeding from his head, nose, and mouth. An unknown person used the boy’s own phone to call his father at 9:30 PM, noting that emergency services had been contacted.
The boy remains in critical condition at Supercare Hospital after doctors ruled out moving him. His father filed an FIR with local police, stating he has no idea why his son was attacked. The Garoland State Movement Committee has blasted the violence, calling the assault a barbaric affront to human decency. Unit chairman Rimjen Sangma demanded swift punishment for the attackers, labeling the boy an innocent target with no known enemies.
