Residents claim Assam police station locks doors at night

Guwahati: Nagaon locals are fuming. The Laokhowa Chapori Police Station stays shut during the night hours, leaving the public stranded. People looking to lodge complaints or file FIRs often find the gates padlocked, forcing them to turn back empty-handed.

Video footage from June 26 shows the main gate bolted tight. Nobody was home. This is despite the building holding sensitive case files and government documents. It is a major security risk for official property and a failure of duty.

Residents say the station should be open all night. One local stated, "The police station, which is expected to remain operational round the clock to serve the public, is often found closed at night."

The lack of access leaves residents without emergency support. Officials have stayed silent so far. No word has come from the department to explain why the lights are off when they should be on.
