Guwahati: Doctors at the Cancer Screening Centre of SK Roy Civil Hospital in Assam have identified an unusual case of Basal Cell Carcinoma. The diagnosis occurred during routine screening procedures in the Hailakandi district. Medical staff noted that while this specific form of skin cancer is common elsewhere, it is extremely rare within India.
Dr. Ahimik Biswas, who works at the hospital, confirmed the diagnosis and emphasized the significance of the findings for the local medical community. Basal Cell Carcinoma typically originates in the outermost layer of the skin. Experts generally link the condition to long-term exposure to ultraviolet radiation.
The medical team at the government-run facility stressed that early detection and prompt intervention remain the most effective ways to treat the disease. The rare nature of this diagnosis has drawn significant attention from health experts across the region.
