Protesters to March in Itanagar Over Alleged 277-Crore Fisheries Scam

Itanagar: A Joint Action Committee announced a mass protest rally in Itanagar for July 6. The group wants action on an alleged 277-crore fisheries department scam. They claim officials siphoned public money through fake projects and ghost ponds. The investigation has stalled.

Despite an existing FIR, the committee says progress is nonexistent. Committee member Biki Tania Higang voiced deep frustration over the lack of movement. He said, "The committee had earlier submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Pema Khandu, seeking a transparent investigation and action against those responsible."

The group issued a seven-day ultimatum to the state government. That deadline passed with no official response. Now, the committee suspects high-level involvement. They allege senior officials, possibly including the Chief Minister or Deputy Chief Minister, might be involved. They provided no hard evidence to back this claim.

The state government has stayed silent on the matter. The committee is now calling for a public turnout, specifically targeting residents from the Kra Daadi district. The march will move from Akashdeep to IG Park. Organizers say they will keep the pressure on until the state delivers a fair and transparent probe into the missing funds.
