Imphal: Hundreds of demonstrators took to the streets of Imphal on Saturday to protest the abduction and killing of six Naga civilians. Organized by the All Naga Students Association Manipur, the rally drew a large crowd demanding accountability from state and central authorities.

The march began at the Tangkhul Baptist Church in Dewlaland and stretched four kilometres to the Manipur Baptist Church in the Chingmeirong area. Participants carried signs and chanted slogans throughout the route, which saw a brief spike in tension when the convoy of former chief minister N. Biren Singh passed through North AOC.

According to the association, the victims were abducted from Leilon Vaiphei village on May 13. They remained in captivity for nearly a month before their bodies were discovered near the village on June 10. ANSAM president Th. Angteshang Maring condemned the violence during the event. He told reporters, "The rally was intended to send a strong message that such acts cannot go unpunished."

Maring called on the government to prioritize the investigation and ensure the perpetrators are identified and prosecuted. The demonstration remains a focal point for public outcry over the safety of civilians in the region.
