Kohima: Pranab College in Dimapur hosted an HIV and AIDS awareness program and blood donation camp on September 25. The Red Ribbon Club and NSS Unit ran the event alongside the Blood Centre of District Hospital Dimapur and DISHA. It was part of the Intensified IEC Campaign 3.0.
Assistant Professor Atoholi H chaired the session. Nodal Officer I Imkongakum Ao opened the floor by stressing the value of blood donation for social health. Kholie Dolf, representing the Voluntary Blood Donors Association Nagaland and the Indian Red Cross Society, led a talk titled "Why Donate Blood." He noted that a single donation saves lives.
Dr. Rongsenmar Longkumer of the District Hospital Blood Centre explained how blood centers operate. He introduced the e-RaktKosh portal for tracking blood group availability. Pauramzeule, a counselor from the District Hospital, led the HIV and AIDS awareness segment. She detailed transmission, symptoms, and prevention methods while pushing for proper medical treatment.
Ulla Laureen Fernsmdez closed the event. Soon after, 22 students stepped up to donate blood. Organizers confirmed the day served to highlight community service and the critical need to save lives.
