Police Seek Identity of Hit-and-Run Victim in Byrnihat

Shillong: Local authorities are working to identify a man who died following a suspected hit-and-run accident on the roadside at 13th Mile, NH-6, in Byrnihat. The incident occurred on April 18 at approximately 7:18 pm. Emergency responders initially transported the victim to Byrnihat PHC, but he was later transferred to NEIGRIHMS in Shillong for specialized medical care.

The man, described as being between 40 and 50 years old, stood 5.2 feet tall and had a medium build, a swarthy complexion, a moustache, and short black hair. At the time of the collision, he was wearing a blue T-shirt and dark blue track pants. He was a familiar face to locals, having been seen loitering in the Byrnihat area for some time before the accident, but he had no known relatives.

The victim succumbed to his injuries at 12:05 am on June 5. His remains are being held at the NEIGRIHMS mortuary pending identification and a formal claim. Police are asking members of the public to come forward with any relevant details. Officials stated, "Police have urged anyone with information regarding the identity or address of the deceased to contact the Police Control Room (PCR), Nongpoh, at 9856084514."
