Police Rescue Kidnapping Victim in Nagaland

Kohima: Nagaland Police rescued a kidnapping victim from the Kuhuboto area of Dimapur on October 8. Officers tracked the victim after Assam Police reported an abduction at gunpoint from Lama Bosti, Khatkhati, Karbi Anglong, on October 7 at 9:30 pm.

A police team from the East Police Station launched an operation to intercept the captors. At 1:30 am on October 8, police cornered a suspect near the 4-Lane Highway divider. Shots rang out during the confrontation. "While causing apprehension of the suspect, some shots were also fired by the other abductors and taking advantage of the same managed to flee in the cover of darkness," officials stated.

Officers arrested the detained man, 32-year-old Kivito Aye, identified as an SS 2nd Lieutenant of the NSCN (K) Nikki faction. Interrogation of Aye revealed that six or seven individuals participated in the kidnapping. Police quickly located the victim following the questioning. Authorities handed both the suspect and the victim over to Assam Police for further investigation.
