Guwahati: Assam Police raided two spas inside a Silchar mall on June 25. Officers hit Lovely Spa and Lotus Spa following reports of a prostitution racket. They hauled in 26 women. One of the detainees is a minor.
Police acted on tips about illegal work hiding behind massage services. The raid hit the Cachar district hard. Officers moved fast. They sent the group for medical exams before taking them to the Silchar Sadar Police Station for questioning.
Investigators are now digging through business records and licenses. They want to know who runs the show. "Appropriate legal action will be taken based on the outcome of the probe," officials stated regarding the ongoing investigation.
Spas in the Club Road area have faced heat for years. Cops say they plan to boost patrols across the district. They want to stop illegal operations using storefronts as cover.
