Guwahati: Charaideo police and the Assam Rifles busted an arms trafficking ring today. They intercepted two men near the Assam-Nagaland border in the Charaideo district. The suspects, identified as Rajibul Islam and Moina Ali, were caught with two .22 calibre pistols in their possession.

Security forces moved in after receiving specific intel about the delivery. The operation aims to tighten control over weapons smuggling in the sensitive border region. Officers took the weapons into custody and are now working to trace the source of the guns.

Investigators are looking for ties to criminal gangs or extremists. Charaideo Senior Superintendent of Police Surjit Singh Paneswar said, "We have arrested two individuals in connection with an arms supply case. They had brought the weapons and were attempting to hand them over to other individuals in Namtola. Further investigation is in progress."

Police continue to interrogate the pair. More arrests are likely as detectives follow the trail. Security teams have boosted patrols across the district to stop further smuggling attempts.
