Police Investigation Launched Following Illegal Activity Claims on Nagaon Bypass

Guwahati: Serious allegations of criminal activity have emerged along the Borghat Bypass in Assam's Nagaon district. Local reports suggest that roadside restaurants and dhabas have become sites for illegal operations, including prostitution and extortion.

Two men, identified as Rekib Ali and Rakibul Islam, are at the center of accusations involving the illegal supply of women to these businesses. Residents claim that several establishments in the area serve as hubs for suspicious conduct once evening arrives.

The situation also involves reports of an extortion scheme. According to these claims, people linked to a defunct digital portal allegedly photographed customers at a local dhaba and threatened to publish the images unless the business owner paid them.

The owner of the dhaba and the local landowner have filed a formal police complaint regarding these incidents. While local authorities are expected to investigate the claims to determine if any criminal offenses occurred, the district police have yet to issue an official statement. No arrests have been made, and the specific details of the complaint remain under review.
