Gangtok: Police in Bengaluru have arrested a man for the murder of his partner in the Bellandur area. The victim, 22-year-old Ati Hangma Subba, worked as a salon receptionist and had moved to the city from Sikkim about a month ago. Officers identified the suspect as Purba Lepcha, a waiter originally from Darjeeling.
Investigators believe an argument broke out between the couple on June 13 after Lepcha suspected Subba of communicating with another man. During the dispute, Lepcha allegedly attacked Subba with a kitchen knife and killed her. Bellandur Police have taken the suspect into custody and are continuing their investigation.
Separately, authorities in Karnataka's Koppal district are investigating the death of a woman found inside an under-construction house in Kanakagiri. Police reports indicate the incident occurred on June 8 between 7 pm and 10.15 pm. A 30-year-old man from Kushtagi taluk is the primary suspect.
Evidence suggests the man brought the victim to the building before killing her with a brick following an argument. He then attempted to destroy evidence by burning the body with a blanket. "Police have seized the blanket used in the incident and other material evidence," officials stated.
Authorities have charged the suspect under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act due to the backgrounds of the individuals involved. Legal proceedings remain ongoing in both cases.
