Police hunt four tourists after violent wreck of Shillong homestay

Shillong: Cops are hunting four tourists from Uttar Pradesh after a violent rampage at The Oakwood homestay in Shillong's Risa Colony. The group trashed the property before fleeing the scene. The trouble started when management asked the guests to leave for breaking house rules, including bringing in unauthorized visitors and ignoring no-smoking policies.

Things turned ugly fast. The guests hit the caretakers and threatened staff. Viral footage shows holes punched in the walls, trashed rooms, and broken fixtures. The damage is extensive. East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem confirmed that authorities have filed a case. "Efforts are being made to trace the accused," Syiem said.

Investigators are now tracking the vehicle used by the group. They put checkpoints on high alert to keep the suspects from leaving the state. Local business owners are furious about the destruction. They want tougher rules to protect local people working in the tourism trade.
