Police escort trucks into Manipur after border blockade

Imphal: Trucks carrying food, medicine, and fuel are finally moving into Manipur. Police escorts began guiding the convoy on Monday after hundreds of vehicles sat idle for days at the Assam border.

The standoff triggered a massive supply chain collapse. Drivers and their helpers spent the wait desperate for help. They had no food, no clean water, and no medical care. One driver noted the severity of the situation, stating, "Some claimed they had to depend on nearby hill streams for water."

Transporters face heavy financial hits as cargo rots. Deliveries stopped cold. Drivers now demand better protection and emergency support during future shutdowns. The current convoy push aims to clear the backlog and restock store shelves across the state.
