Police detain ten Bangladeshi nationals in Guwahati

Guwahati: Guwahati police grabbed ten Bangladeshi nationals in the Paltan Bazar area late Tuesday night. The group could not show valid IDs or travel papers when officers stopped them. Paltan Bazar Police handed the ten over to the Border Police to run legal checks and start the deportation process.

The investigation is now moving toward the local lodge where the group stayed. Police are putting the heat on the owner, Hridoy Deka, for failing to collect identity documents from his guests. Officials stated that "efforts to identify and act against illegal entrants are continuing" as part of wider city verification drives.

This bust mirrors an operation from June 19. Back then, cops rounded up 13 Bangladeshi nationals in the Arya Nagar area. They also lacked documentation and faced immediate expulsion after officers finished the paperwork. City authorities are keeping the pressure on to flush out those entering without proper clearance.
