Police Detain Suspect in Connection With Dibrugarh Woman's Death

Guwahati: Authorities in Assam's Dibrugarh district have taken a youth into custody regarding the death of a married woman in the Bogibeel area. Police identified the detained individual as Akash Rahman, who had been missing since the incident occurred at Lengapathar.

Officers from the Barbariua Police Station apprehended Rahman in the Bakul area late on May 28. The arrest followed a tip gathered by investigators working on the case of Yasmin Laskar Rahman, whose death caused significant alarm in the local community.

The investigation began after Yasmin’s family filed a formal complaint at the Barbariua Police Station, citing suspicions of foul play. The situation intensified on Friday when family members confronted Rahman at the station after he returned from a medical examination. Yasmin's mother publicly questioned the suspect during the encounter, while friends of the deceased have since come forward with additional allegations.

Local residents have expressed significant outrage over the event. Police officials confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the woman's death.
