Guwahati: Police in Assam's Dhubri district arrested a suspected drug dealer on Thursday evening. Officers from the BN College Town Out Post took Talimul Islam into custody following a tip about illicit substances moving through the area.

Sub-Inspector Hridip Roy led the operation. His team intercepted Islam and searched him on the spot. They found 37 capsules of Pyeevon Spas and a strip of Nitcor tablets. Both medications are common prescription drugs often misused as intoxicants. Officers seized the contraband immediately.

The arrest is part of a wider effort to clean up the district's drug trade. Police are digging into how Islam got the pills. They want to find his suppliers. "Police officials said the operation forms part of the ongoing drive to curb the illegal trade of psychotropic and other prohibited substances in the district." Legal proceedings against Islam have already started.
