Guwahati: Guwahati police intercepted a vehicle on Panjabari Road and arrested three men carrying Rs 10.9 lakh in fake currency. The bust happened at Six Mile after officers acted on a tip. They stopped the car, bearing registration number UP-35BV-8240, and took all occupants into custody.

The suspects are Anuj Gupta, 34, from Unnao, along with Kanpur residents Mahesh Shukla, 32, and Roshan Gupta, 28. All three men call Uttar Pradesh home. Police found the haul stashed inside the vehicle. Every single note seized was in the Rs 500 denomination.

Officers also found a gas cutter with a cylinder, a dao, a Gold Flame lighter, and a pair of pliers. These items suggest the gang might be involved in more than just passing fake bills. Police stated, "further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the counterfeit currency and uncover any wider network linked to the racket." Authorities are now working to track the origin of the fake notes and identify other members of this criminal group.
