Police Book Arunachal Anti-Drug Activist Under POCSO Act

Itanagar: Itanagar police registered a new criminal case against anti-drug activist Gumin Mize and two of his associates. The accused belong to the Arunachal Pradesh Anti-Drug Warrior group. Charges include violations of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

A 17-year-old girl filed the complaint. Officials have not shared specific details regarding the allegations. This case is logged as WPS Itanagar Case No. 53/26.

Mize is already behind bars. East Siang Superintendent of Police Pankaj Lamba confirmed that police arrested the activist on June 18. Pasighat officers took him into custody during the afternoon. He remains in remand. A local court sent him to 14 days of judicial custody for an earlier rape case.

Authorities are running parallel investigations. Officials state that "investigations into both cases are currently underway, and further details are expected as the inquiries progress."
