Kohima: Phek District Planning and Development Board members met in the DC conference hall to confront a crisis. Government schools in the area posted dismal results in recent HSLC and HSSLC exams. Board members are now weighing a plan to adopt underperforming schools to fix the slide.

Minister for Power and Parliamentary Affairs K. G. Kenye chaired the meeting. He demanded that officials show up to work. "He also highlighted the State’s financial position and called upon departments to ensure judicious use of funds meant for development and beneficiaries," according to the report. Kenye reminded the room that the board exists to serve the public.

Infrastructure also took center stage. The board pushed for a new video conference setup to speed up government business. Meanwhile, the transfer of the Pfutsero to Phek road from NHIDCL to the state department remains in progress. Kenye promised to lean on the government to release cash for immediate road repairs.

Census talk dominated the final stretch. Deputy Commissioner Rhosietho Nguori and nodal officer Mechietsho Koza briefed the group on preparations for the 2027 Census. The Social Welfare, Women Development, and Food and Civil Supplies departments wrapped up the day by showing off their ongoing projects.
