Itanagar: The Nyishi Elite Society pushed Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu to speed up relief efforts in Keyi Panyor. A flash flood in Poosa recently tore through the area. It killed one person and left others missing or injured.
Homes and livestock vanished under the mud. Vital roads are blocked. The group wants the state to open the Hoj-Poosa and Kimin-Potin routes immediately so help can actually reach those in need.
NES President Prof. Tana Showren said the incident was a "calamity of significant magnitude." He wants the state to handle the disaster in mission mode.
The society warned that disaster victims cannot keep running to different offices for basic help. They want an integrated response. This plan would put one agency in charge of food, shelter, and medical care. The group also pitched long-term safety upgrades. They want better hazard mapping and early warning systems to stop the next flood from doing this much damage.
