NSCN-IM Accuses Indian Government of Using Kuki Groups as Proxies

Kohima: The NSCN-IM has accused the Indian government of orchestrating a shadow war against the Naga people by instrumentalizing Kuki groups in the volatile hills of Manipur. In its latest news bulletin, Nagalim Voice, the organization claims that New Delhi is using these groups as proxies to undermine the Naga national resistance movement. The bulletin asserts that while these groups may be chasing the promise of a separate administration, the strategy is ultimately reckless and short-sighted.

According to the publication, the demographic shift in the region is a result of deliberate engineering by the Indian state. The NSCN-IM stated, "This demographic engineering has been facilitated by the Government of India, effectively providing a 'blessing' to landless Kuki refugees at the expense of Naga's indigenous rights." The bulletin argues that the government lacks the legal or moral authority to grant ancestral Naga lands to refugees.

The organization further criticized New Delhi for relying on colonial-era tactics and failing to provide a meaningful political solution for the Nagas after nearly three decades of diplomacy. It claimed that the continued application of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act has only fueled resentment rather than fostering peace. Additionally, the bulletin alleged that the state's reliance on Suspension of Operations agreements effectively outsources state-led instability.

Despite these tensions, the NSCN-IM urged the Naga community to adopt a more unified approach. It praised Naga women for their resilience in preventing the militarization of local villages and encouraged national fighters to draw inspiration from their efforts. The group concluded that the time has come for the Naga people to act with the collective strength of a sovereign nation.
