Shillong: Education officials from across the Northeast gathered at the State Convention Centre in Shillong on Tuesday for a regional workshop focused on the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan and Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan. Organised by the Union Ministry of Education alongside the Meghalaya State Higher Education Council and State Project Directorate, the event brought together representatives from all eight Northeastern states.
Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui chaired the inaugural session, which featured senior government officials. The training emphasized technical capacity building for financial management systems including PFMS and SNA-SPARSH. Participants also reviewed project monitoring via the PM-USHA portal and debated the rollout of a proposed STEM hostel initiative.
The workshop addressed various implementation hurdles currently affecting regional projects. Following these discussions, a team from the Union Ministry of Education will remain in Meghalaya for a three-day on-site visit. This mission aims to "review the progress and outcomes of RUSA and PM-USHA projects in Meghalaya" through direct field evaluations.
