Shillong: St. Peter Secondary School in Madanriting shut down claims of financial misconduct this Saturday. Online rumors alleged the staff misused Rs 15 lakh sanctioned under the MLA scheme. The management calls these claims baseless.
Local MLA Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit provided the grant. The school used the cash to build two new classrooms. Basaiawmoit even showed up to cut the ribbon. Remaining funds covered benches and building repairs. Everything was accounted for.
The committee faced a hurdle with upper-floor access. Community and Rural Development Block engineers failed to find a fix. The school took charge. They spent heavily on a welded bridge to link the floors. Managing Committee president Diesto Nongrum slammed the online chatter. He told reporters, "The claims were made without verifying facts on the ground."
Committee member Edmund Syiem stood by the work. He confirmed the money went strictly toward infrastructure upgrades. Teachers and board members insist the books are clean. They maintain the project was handled with full transparency.
