Nongkrem MLA Focuses on Education Over Concrete Development

Shillong: Nongkrem legislator Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit pushed for a shift in how the state measures progress. He spoke Wednesday after opening two new classrooms at St Peter’s Secondary School in Madanriting. The project cost Rs 15 lakh, funded entirely through the MLA scheme.

Physical structures do not define success. Basaiawmoit argued that real development depends on the opportunities provided to the younger generation. "As public representatives, we believe that development is not only about roads and other physical structures. It is also about creating opportunities and supporting the generations to come," he said.

Building schools acts as a long-term investment. Father Auggie Warbah joined the event to back the project. He noted the extra space meets the growing needs of the students and provides a superior learning environment.
