Imphal: The NNC/FGN has condemned a wave of violence in Southern Nagaland, citing deep distress over the recent killings, abductions, and property destruction in the Ukhrul and Kangpokpi districts. The organization stated that the unrest, which began earlier this year, has increasingly impacted civilians, religious leaders, and village volunteers.
In a statement issued by its Ministry of Rali Wali Affairs, the group highlighted several tragic incidents, including attacks in Litan-Sareikhong, Mullam, and Shongphal. The organization specifically addressed the May 13 killing of three Thadou Baptist leaders in Kangpokpi, identified as Rev. Vunthang Sitlou, Rev. Kaigoullun, and Pastor Paogoulen. They also noted the abduction and death of six Naga hostages: Pr. Kenpibou, Rev. Manu, Phenrongwibou, Phenrilungbou, Dilip, and Kaliwangbou.
The NNC/FGN described the violence as morally indefensible and politically reckless, asserting that no territorial dispute justifies such bloodshed. The group called on all involved armed factions to cease hostilities immediately. They urged both Nagas and Kukis to avoid retaliatory actions, warning that further cycles of violence will only hinder ongoing peace and reconciliation efforts.
While reaffirming a commitment to neighborly peace, the organization warned that it would defend the historical rights of the Naga people over their ancestral lands. The NNC/FGN concluded that it views any politically motivated attack against a Naga individual as a direct assault on the entire Naga nation.
