Nitin Gadkari to Inspect Delhi-Mumbai Expressway After Deadly Bus Fire

Shillong: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari will inspect the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway this Wednesday. He heads to the site after a horrific collision in Dausa killed eight people. The minister plans to drive from Delhi toward Kota and Ratlam to check road safety and maintenance.

A private bus rammed a trailer truck on July 1. The crash triggered a massive fire at 2:50 a.m. Six victims burned to death inside the coach, while two others died later from head wounds. Survivors reported a terrifying scene inside the cabin. One survivor said, "The impact was followed by what survivors described as a loud explosion, with fire engulfing the bus within moments and leaving passengers scrambling to escape through thick smoke and intense heat."

Thirty-six passengers were on board the bus during the trip from Haridwar to Indore. Twenty-eight people suffered injuries in the blaze. Now, NHAI officials are scrambling to prep the route. Gadkari will assess construction quality and safety systems at the Dara Tunnel. His tour covers sections of the expressway stretching into Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.
