Guwahati: Federal agents dropped the hammer on 11 terror suspects Friday. The National Investigation Agency filed a formal chargesheet in a Guwahati special court. The accused face charges under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

The group allegedly operated as an offshoot of the Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh. They called their faction the Imam Mahmuder Kafila. Investigators say the outfit exists to push extremist goals in India. The agency stated, "The conspiracy was aimed at spreading JMB's extremist ideology in West Bengal, Assam, Tripura and other northeastern States by radicalising vulnerable youth, expanding the organisation's network and disseminating anti-India propaganda."

Recruitment thrived in the shadows. The group held secret meetings and pushed indoctrination programs. They used digital platforms to bait new members. Nasimuddin supposedly ran the Assam operations, while Jagir Mia directed the plot in Tripura. Agents seized electronic devices and documents during the probe. These items allegedly prove the network planned a wide reach. The court will now decide the fate of the accused.
