Guwahati: Northeast Frontier Railway General Manager Chetan Kumar Shrivastava stormed Kamakhya Station on June 22. He needed to see the preparations for the Ambubachi Mela rush firsthand. Thousands of pilgrims are pouring into Assam for the four-day religious event.

Shrivastava checked everything. He reviewed security deployments, medical tents, and drinking water access. The station must handle a massive spike in foot traffic. He grilled railway staff on their crowd control plans and insisted on total vigilance during the event. Shrivastava told officials to "maintain coordination with security agencies and civil authorities" to keep trains moving without a hitch.

The railway added special unreserved trains to bridge Kamakhya with spots across Assam and North Bengal. They also packed more coaches onto regular routes to squeeze in extra travelers. The goal is to keep the station clean and safe while keeping lines moving. Officials will monitor the surge around the clock until the festival ends on June 25.
