Agartala: A dedicated Kisan Helpline Centre has officially opened at the State Horticulture Research Centre in Nagicherra, West Tripura. The facility provides essential agricultural support, expert advice, and grievance redressal services to farmers residing in Tripura, Mizoram, and Meghalaya.
Tripura Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath inaugurated the centre, noting that the initiative evolved from the Union government’s 2004 Kisan Call Centre project. The programme was rebranded in 2026 to better reflect its broader scope, which now includes structured outreach activities and detailed support mechanisms. Nath stated, "The national Kisan Helpline network currently operates through 22 centres, covering all states and Union Territories."
Farmers can contact agricultural experts by dialing the toll-free number 1800-180-1551. The helpline remains operational every day of the week, including Sundays and holidays, from 6 am to 10 pm to ensure consistent assistance.
The centre utilizes a technology-driven system to manage and track inquiries. Complaints are initially reviewed by supervisors before being escalated to relevant officials in the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare if necessary. Once a resolution is reached, the case returns to the centre to ensure the farmer is satisfied, fostering transparency and accountability in the support process.
