Guwahati: A new railway link will soon connect Kokrajhar in Assam to Gelephu in Bhutan. The 69.05-kilometer line carries a price tag of Rs 3,456.36 crore. It aims to push India's Act East Policy forward. The track links directly to Bhutan's Gelephu Mindfulness City project.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma pushed the news on social media. He believes the rail line turns Assam into a primary gateway for international commerce. He said the project is a "landmark project that will strengthen India-Bhutan ties while opening new avenues for trade, tourism and regional development."

Officials expect the line to speed up economic growth. It will move people and goods across the border with ease. This work reinforces the strategic bond between the two nations.
