NERIST Director Resigns Amid Recruitment Controversy in Arunachal Pradesh

Itanagar: The North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology in Arunachal Pradesh is facing a leadership crisis following the resignation of Director Prof Narendranath S. His departure on Saturday follows the recent suspension of Registrar MK Camdir and Assistant Registrar Boge Kamduk.

The Ministry of Education ordered the suspensions after uncovering alleged manipulation in the recruitment process for non-teaching staff. These events have sparked significant concern regarding the governance and stability of the technical institution.

While the NERIST Research Scholars Association alleged that internal politics and corruption forced the director to resign, Prof Narendranath S denied these claims. He maintained that the decision to suspend the two senior officials came directly from the Ministry of Education.

The Research Scholars Association, led by president John Yigam, has called for a swift restoration of order to prevent further disruptions to academic and research activities. Federal authorities are continuing their investigation into the institute, leaving the future of its administrative leadership uncertain.
