Guwahati: The Nagaon district administration is preparing to launch an eviction drive to reclaim government grazing reserve land that has been illegally occupied. The operation targets specific sites within the Hatichong Mouza after officials identified unauthorized residential buildings and excavated ponds on protected plots.

Assam Minister Keshab Mahanta and MLA Rupak Sharma visited the sites to oversee preparations alongside district officials. The planned clearance covers Government Grazing Reserve No. 72 at Goraimari Pathar, as well as Government Grazing Reserve Nos. 62 and 63 at Bogoriguri Pam, all situated within the Nagaon Sadar Revenue Circle.

Authorities confirmed that eviction notices were served to the occupants on July 25, 2025. Following the residents' failure to vacate the area, the administration is now finalizing logistics for the removal of the structures. Officials stated that "administrative arrangements for the operation are currently underway" as the district prepares to clear the encroached land in the coming days.
