Nagaland signs agreement to boost vocational training in colleges

Kohima: The Government of Nagaland has launched a new initiative to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry requirements. On June 9, the Directorate of Higher Education and the Directorate of Technical Education signed a memorandum of understanding to overhaul vocational education across state institutions.

This partnership focuses on equipping students with modern skills by introducing courses in areas such as artificial intelligence and convergence technologies. Officials aim to improve student employability by sharing institutional resources, including technical expertise, infrastructure, and skilled faculty members.

The training will be provided through polytechnic institutions and specialized centers using both in-person and virtual instruction. By creating a unified framework, the government intends to help students gain competencies that match the demands of the current job market.

State officials stated the initiative reflects the government's commitment to "fostering innovation, enhancing employability, and creating greater opportunities for youth through inter-departmental cooperation and effective utilization of existing educational resources." The program is expected to build a more capable and future-ready workforce across the region.
